Perth city centre could be set to welcome two new craft beer bars in the coming weeks.
Fair city firm Cullach Brewery, based at Friarton Industrial Estate, have begun to move into an empty unit on Princes Street.
The company have applied for an alcohol licence to serve craft beer at their new home, as well as regular sales.
A spokesperson for the company said: “I’m very happy to announce that we have started a lease at Princes Street in Perth for our new brewery and taproom.
“Opening in December, licence permitting, you’ll be able to try our beers from the brewery and enjoy rotating guest beers as well.”
The unit had previously housed the Play Café.
Meanwhile, across the city, the Craft Beer Bottle Shop on Murray Street has also applied to Perth and Kinross Council for permission to operate as a public house.
The craft beer stockists are proposing to operate as a bar seven days a week, open until midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and until 12.30am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The company still plans to operate as an alcohol retailer, but like Cullach, will give patrons the opportunity to enjoy a tipple on-site.
No food is expected to be served on site and management have stressed to council planners that deliveries and waste management is all in hand.
Craft beer popularity has soared in Perth, having been boosted by the launch of Brewdog’s bar on George Street just under a year ago.
Planners will make a decision on the proposal shortly.
