A Perth College UHI hospitality student has been awarded an industry scholarship at a prestigious institution in Switzerland.
Damian Kwiatkowski, 38, will travel to Switzerland in February to study at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, which has consistently been regarded as the best hospitality school in the world.
Originally from Poland, Damian is now living in Auchterarder and is studying a HND in Hospitality at Perth College.
He also works at the Gleneagles Hotel as the manager of The American Bar.
Damian said: “I’m very aware of the Lausanne’s excellent reputation for hospitality education as I’ve already worked with students who have studied there through my career which included a stint in London.
“This is a fabulous opportunity to meet new people and make new connections.
“I’m very much looking forward to the experience and it is a great honour to be chosen.”
Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne ranked first place in the 2019 World University for Hospitality and Leisure Management Universities.
Having celebrated its 125th anniversity this year, the institution has also received a Michelin star.
Damian’s scholarship in Lausanne is funded by the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland.
HIT Scotland is a charity for the hospitality industry which works to encourage the development of people working and studying in the sector.
HIT Scotland Chief Executive, David Cochrane said: “Attending the world renowned hotel school Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne is a fantastic and motivational learning experience for students studying hospitality.
“Previous attendees have returned feeling inspired about their future career in hospitality, and I’m sure Damian will be the same.”
