Perth and North Perthshire general election candidate Angus Forbes has corrected an answer he gave at a hustings which sparked controversy.
The Conservative councillor said he voted to close Abernyte Primary based on pupil attainment but has since said he misspoke.
He said: “I have been clear all along that my vote at committee was based on the sustainability of the school roll and the educational benefits identified as part of the consultation process and which were subsequently included in all the papers presented at lifelong learning committee.
“At the hustings, I used the word attainment when I had meant to say benefits and I am happy to clarify the situation.”
