A motorcyclist has died in a crash with a car in Perthshire.
The accident happened around 3pm on Sunday on the A85 Perth to Crieff road, at St Fillans.
A local politician expressed her shock at the incident which led to the road being closed for the majority of the day to allow crash investigators to carry out their work after the tragedy.
Diversions were put in place by the police.
A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland attended at the A85 at St Fillans after a woman motor-cyclist sustained fatal injuries following a collision with a Vauxhall Astra car at around 3pm.
“The occupants of the car were uninjured. The road was closed while a full investigation into the circumstances was carried out.”
Councillor Ann Cowan, one of the representatives for the Strathearn ward, said she was “shocked” to hear about the fatality.
“I had been away for most of the day but this is really awful news,” she told The Courier.
“I know this part of the A85 quite well … It has lots of hidden dips that cause problems. I am very shocked to hear about this.”
Messages were left on the Tayside Police Facebook page.
Brian McConnell said: “Unbelievable. I passed through St Fillans heading towards Lochearnhead about the same time. Overtook a big line of bikes that looked like a club ride out.
“ Conditions were good. Just goes to show you. I am genuinely saddened by this.”
The A85 has seen several fatalities in recent years. In April last year, two people died following a motorcycle crash on the A85 between Killin and Crianlarich.
