A thief who stole nearly £1,000 from footballers by raiding their dressing room while they were training nearby has been remanded in custody.

Steven Flynn admitted stealing two iPhones and a wallet and its contents from the Letham FC changing facility.

Flynn – who was previously jailed after breaking into St Johnstone’s McDiarmid Park stadium – was captured and identified from CCTV.

Depute fiscal Mairi Graham told Perth Sheriff Court: “This was the changing rooms at Seven Acres Pavilion in Perth.

“Witnesses were playing football in the playing field next to it and left their phones and wallets in the changing room.

“The manager of the facility was made aware of a male acting suspiciously. CCTV was checked and the accused was the only person who was seen to enter.”

Flynn, 32, from Perth, admitted stealing items from the sports complex on November 5. He admitted stealing fragrance from Boots the same day and taking cash from Perth Theatre on November 8.

Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said his client had “a tragic family history” and had suffered from a drug problem for many years.

Sheriff William Wood told Flynn, who has convictions for more than 120 previous crimes, that he appeared to have a revolving door to prison. Sentence was deferred for the preparation of background reports.
