Developers at a major new housing project on the outskirts of Perth are hoping to amend their application so they can squeeze in more homes for rent.
Springfield Properties are seeking permission from Perth and Kinross Council to build 82 properties on land previously earmarked for 64 homes at Bertha Park.
The move comes just months after the firm signed a contract to build hundreds of homes for Sigma Capital Group.
Under the agreement, Sigma will purchase part of the site from Springfield and will award the developers a fixed-cost contract to design and build the homes. Following handover, the homes will be let and managed by Sigma.
The local authority gave Springfield Properties planning consent for 1,061 homes in December 2016.
The developers want to amend the number in the East Village section of the development in order to meet the quota agreed with Sigma.
In the supporting statement, a spokesperson for Springfield said: “This application seeks to amend these plots, 64, and replace with 82 new homes.
“The homes have been designed specifically for Bertha Park and when built will add a new type of tenure to the overall village with the intention that these homes will be available for private rent through our partner Sigma.
“This will assist in diversifying the tenure mix within the overall village complimenting the proposed private and affordable homes.”
The new proposal is for a range of of two to four bedroom terraced properties and three bedroom semi detached homes.
The Bertha Park development is well under way and the new £32.5 million secondary school opened to its first set of pupils in August.
It is the first non-replacement new secondary school to be built in Scotland for more than two decades.
Education chiefs are also requesting that a multi-million-pound primary school be built at Bertha Park to deal with the expected influx of families to the area.
