Sealing the deal to sell former Perth and Kinross Council offices to a major hotel chain could be instrumental to the redevelopment of Perth City Hall, according to local politicians.
Conservative MSPs Liz Smith and Murdo Fraser, who both represent the Mid Scotland and Fife region, have urged the local authority to press on with its bid to sell the registrars’ base on the corner of Tay Street and High Street to an unnamed large hotelier, who has signalled intent to convert the premises into a hotel with as many as 125 bedrooms.
Ms Smith said: “Perth needs a top hotel and if this proposal comes to fruition, I’m sure having such a prominent site in the city will attract thousands of tourists, desperate to visit Perth City Hall.”
