A pest control survey is being carried out in Perth city centre after rats were spotted among a mountain of rubbish dumped a few feet from the High Street.
Businesses and residents complained to Perth and Kinross Council that waste had been allowed to pile up in the alley between High Street and Skinnergate.
Video of the rubbish is above this article.
Some called into question the role of the council’s new communal bin scheme, unveiled in November.
In response to the complaints about the rubbish, which has now been removed, a council spokesperson said: “In relation to this site, we can confirm that this particular bin hub unfortunately couldn’t be accessed on a number of occasions during the festive period.”
