Police took to social media to confirm that one of Tayside’s busiest roads was blocked by pipes and not by “sticky” juice on Wednesday.
Lanes in both directions were blocked on the A90 Dundee to Perth road at St Madoes after a lorry shed its load at about 12.40pm.
A Traffic Scotland tweet had initially suggested the spillage originated from an HGV which had tipped and spilled a cargo of juice.
The organisation informed drivers of the incident by tweeting: “There is a shed load of juice causing some sticky traffic in both directions near St Madoes.”
However Traffic Scotland were left red-faced after Tayside Police Division corrected them.
The force confirmed said the spillage was not from a vehicle transporting juice, but was a Jewson lorry which was carrying building materials.
“Er, guys, it’s not a shed load of juice – it’s a shed load from a Jewson lorry,” police tweeted.
“Pipes and stuff. Efforts ongoing to clear it up at the moment.”

All lanes were closed in both directions after the incident was reported just before 12.30pm and reopened around 20 minutes later.
