The Vengabus will not be coming to Perth as Dutch dance music stars The Vengaboys have had their Perth Valentine’s Day production cancelled.
The turn-of-the-millennium stars – who had hits Boom Boom Boom Boom, We’re Going to Ibiza and We Like To Party – had been scheduled to play at Perth’s The Bank nightclub on February 14.
But promoters Concept 2020 chose to cancel the Fair City performance, telling Bank management that the decision was down to ticket sales.
The Vengaboys are currently advertising for a show in the Dutch city of Leiden, on the same night they had been pencilled in for Perth, in the middle of a tour of the Netherlands.
A spokesperson for the venue said: “As you may be aware, the Vengaboys Live Event that was due to take place on February 14 at The Bank Nightclub has now been cancelled.
“The main room within The Bank Nightclub was hired by the promoter Concept 2020 and they were in full control of the Vengaboys coming to Perth. We had no say or control in the booking of the Vengaboys for the event.
“As the operators of the venue, we were aware of some issues from the start and we are just as upset that this event has now been cancelled.
“Concept 2020 stated it was due to the lack of ticket sales. Although we are aware that was not the case as there was no access to obtain tickets for a number of weeks leading up to the event, we waited on updates from the promoter who sent assurances that all was in order. Unfortunately, as stated, the event has now been cancelled.
“To clarify, The Bank Bar and Nightclub is an ongoing concern; we are aware that there are many rumours that we are to close in the coming weeks, this is simply not the case.
“We look forward to welcoming you to our venue as usual.”
