The main road in Alyth is closed as firefighters tackle a blaze above the town’s Chinese takeaway.
Firefighters were called to reports of a blaze in the flats above Fortune Palace in Airlie Street just before 4.30am on Saturday. It is thought several properties may be affected.
The road was closed and traffic, including the 57 bus, was still being diverted at 9.45am on Saturday.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.29am on Saturday, February 22 to reports of a building fire at Airlie Street in Blairgowrie.
“Eight fire appliances, an aerial rescue appliance and specialist resource have been mobilised to the scene, and crews are currently tackling a well-developed fire affecting commercial and domestic properties.”
