Perth College will suspend all face-to-face teaching from 5pm today.
The institution had said yesterday they would move to virtual learning from Friday but the college have now taken the decision to move those plans forward.
Classes will begin online from Monday.
The campus, including the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing , will remain open.
A spokesperson for the college said: “The wellbeing of students, staff and visitors to our many campuses across the university partnership continues to be our priority.
“All 14 principals of the University of the Highlands partnership met this morning to coordinate a response to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We are all acutely aware of the developing situation and advice from the Scottish Government.
“As a result, we have decided to suspend the delivery of compulsory face-to-face teaching from 5pm today, Tuesday 17 March.
“For the rest of this week, there will be no teaching and online learning will commence from Monday March 23.
“This suspension will cover all further education, higher education and community programmes. Students should therefore not attend any classes in person after today (Tue 17 March) until told otherwise.
“These are unprecedented times but we’re planning carefully to ensure students can continue their studies, including examination arrangements, with as little disruption as possible.”
