A popular bar in Perth city centre is under pressure to close its doors after a manager self-isolated with coronavirus symptoms and warned other staff members they may also be carrying the disease.
The Foundry on Murray Street remains open despite the manager of the Belhaven bar isolating themselves and notifying staff on Tuesday morning they might also have the virus.
A staff member at the pub passed the email to The Courier, believing the public had the right to know about the contamination issue.
The email from the manager reads: “Morning all. I am now self insulating (isolating) having full symptoms of coronavirus.
“Unfortunately some of you may also have it also.”
The whistleblower was keen to stress staff were not to blame for the pub remaining open, instead blaming Suffolk based brewing company Greene King which own the Belhaven chain.
Greene King said potential cases at the Perth pub had not been confirmed.
A spokesperson said: “Whilst we have no confirmed cases in the pub, in line with government advice we are encouraging all team members who show mild symptoms to self-isolate.
“Cleanliness and hygiene is always a top priority and our team members are observing the highest hygiene standards but we’re also taking additional measures including increasing the distance between tables and removing condiments, cutlery and menus from tables, cleaning them before and after each customer.”
