A Perth hotel is being offered as a base for emergency services and health workers battling the coronavirus outbreak.
Bosses at the Lodge at Perth Racecourse announced their decision to close for at least four weeks.
The 26-room establishment, which opened in 2016 as part of a £2 million investment, will shut at 5pm on Friday.
A spokesman said it was the only possible decision: “Staff at the Lodge were the first to be informed earlier this afternoon, with this update also communicated to the wider Perth Racecourse and Heritage Portfolio team.”
He said guests with imminent reservations had been informed and refunded.
“From the bottom of our hearts we’d like to thank all staff at The Lodge for their hard work and commitment in these most trying of circumstances for everyone,” he said.
“We are doing everything within our power and control to work towards the best possible outcome for all.”
He said: “With everything so fast-moving, we will continue to monitor the situation very closely and continue to follow all government and NHS advice.
“Perth Racecourse can also confirm that the Lodge has been offered to local emergency services and the NHS for use as a closed facility, should it help the incredible work they are doing around the clock to keep us all safe.”
