A second ward at a Perth hospital has been locked down by health chiefs after an outbreak of coronavirus.
The Garry Ward at Murray Royal Hospital is now closed to new admissions, NHS Tayside confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
A spokeswoman said: “The ward has been closed to new patients as a precautionary measure and all appropriate infection prevention and control measures have been put in place.”
The 12-bed inpatient ward treats men and women with varying degrees of dementia.
It follows the closure of the hospital’s Tummel Ward – which also specialises in dementia treatment – last week.
Days earlier, the Tay Ward at Perth Royal Infirmary was also forced to closed following an outbreak of the virus.
Tay Ward is part of the medicine for the elderly unit within the scope of Perth and
Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and provides rehabilitation for patients aged 65 years and over.
The general practice unit at Pitlochry Community Hospital has also closed to new admissions.
