A Perthshire support group for men has secured £10,000 in National Lottery funding.
The Scone Airport Men’s Shed was founded at the end of last year to provide a place for members to meet, share skills and chat over a cup of tea.
The funding will be used to secure new kit.
A spokesperson said: “The group will use the cash to provide equipment such as bench saws, belt and disc sanders, an assortment of hand held power drills, heating, and broadband.
“We were extremely fortunate to have been provided with an almost brand new ‘shed’ by Morris Leslie at Perth Airport, and we are gradually adapting it to suit the needs of the men who attend.”
SNP MP for Perth and North Perthshire, Pete Wishart welcomed the funding.
“I have seen first-hand the excellent work that Men’s Shed projects do, and I know that they will put this funding to great use,” he said.
Before lockdown restrictions came into force, around 20 men attended meetings at the Scone shed.
It was previously open on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings and organisers say members are eager to return.
