Police have launched an investigation into the “unexplained” death of a man whose body was found in a Perthshire town centre on Sunday evening.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5.40pm as witnesses described a large police and ambulance presence around the vicinity of Care Dental clinic in the mixed business and residential area.
A local guesthouse owner told The Courier that a police vehicle had been stationed outside a property between the clinic and an accounting firm throughout the night as officers continued their search for answers.
Both the clinic and accountancy businesses were closed at the time of the discovery.
Duncan Fraser, who runs Leven House on Comrie Street, said: “It’s quite alarming. The poor chap.
“I was talking to my neighbour about it, we’re not sure what’s happened.
“I got back around 6.30pm on Sunday and there was a police car and a van across the road, outside Care Dental. The car and the van were still there on Monday morning.
“It’s such a shame.”
The Courier understands that the man was already deceased by the time the emergency services were called to the scene.
AÂ spokesperson for the force said: “Emergency services were called to Comrie Street, Crieff around 5.40pm on Sunday, June 14, 2020, following the sudden death of a 33-year-old man.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
