A virtual meeting to be held on Friday will give Perthshire traders the chance to shape how the council supports businesses after lockdown.

The meeting will be chaired by Councillor Angus Forbes, chair of the environment and infrastructure committee, alongside Councillor Roz McCall, the Scottish Conservative Business Ambassador.

Mr Forbes said: “As lockdown begins to ease and we can see the economy beginning to get going in England, we know that the businesses here in Perth and Kinross are desperate to get back to serving customers as soon as possible.

“None of us knows what the future holds in the next few months but it’s important that we listen to the views of businesses as much as possible.

“Often the very best ideas come from the people that are on the frontline and we need to move away from the idea that politicians know best.”

Ms McCall said: “This is a fact finding and brainstorming mission, pulling together ideas and taking steps towards quickly building a plan for the economy of Perth and Kinross after Covid-19.

“None of us know what money will be available to the council after this but we need to be sure that whatever resources are available for economic regeneration are used wisely and in a way that really makes a difference.”

The meeting, due to begin at 7.30pm, is open to Perth and Kinross businesses of all sizes and types, and can be accessed on Zoom.

Businesses interested in participating should email Mr Forbes at councillorforbes@gmail.com.
