Perth and Kinross has recorded its first confirmed death linked to coronavirus since early June.
The only Covid-19-related fatality in Scotland in the past day was in the local authority area, according to the latest NHS Open Data statistics.
It is the first confirmed death linked to the virus in the Perth and Kinross region since June 9.
The person who died was in the 85 and above age bracket.
It is the 47th confirmed coronavirus fatality in Perth and Kinross.
It comes after Perthshire was the location of a major Covid-19 outbreak.
Some 200 positive cases have now been linked to the 2 Sisters food processing plant in Coupar Angus since mid-August.
The cluster has largely been brought under control with staff at the plant returning to work on Monday.
It is not known if the latest death is linked to the Coupar Angus cluster.
A further 156 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Scotland from Tuesday into Wednesday; one in Perth and Kinross, three in Angus and three in Fife. There were no positive tests recorded in Dundee.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, 2,495 people in Scotland have passed away within 28 days of testing positive for the virus.
However Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificates of some 4,228 people.
A total of 20,788 people have now tested positive for the disease in the country.
