Paramedics were called to a newly-installed pedestrian crossing in Perth city centre after a woman was struck by a taxi.
Witnesses said the pedestrian stepped into Charlotte Street as a taxi was heading downhill from the direction of the Perth Bridge on Saturday.
One passerby said: “I was out walking my dog and walked past the new toucan crossing at Charlotte Street, not long before 9.30pm.
“It looked quite serious and the taxi driver was very shaken up. It looks like they just hadn’t seen the pedestrian.
“There were police and ambulances there and I think she might have been taken to hospital.”
The new crossing, at the site of the traffic island between Blackfriars Wynd and the North Inch, was installed during lockdown.
Perth and Kinross Council brought it in as a temporary measure, paid for from its £1.1 million Spaces For People funding.
The speed limit in Charlotte Street was also reduced from 30mph to 20mph.
Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a collision involving a female pedestrian and a car between North Inch and North Port Road at around 9.20pm on Saturday September 12.
“The ambulance service attended and enquiries have been carried out.”
