Plans are being put in place for the forthcoming Perth City North and Perth City South by-elections on November 26.
Campaigning will be slightly different with Covid-19 restrictions in place.
Perth and Kinross Council’s SNP group has lost two councillors this year following Dave Doogan’s election as MP for Angus in December 2019 and the passing of Bob Band, who represented Perth City South, in March 2020.
A by-election for Perth City North, Dave Doogan’s former seat, was scheduled for May but was postponed due to the pandemic.
The SNP group has announced its candidate for Perth City North as Ian Massie.
The Liberal Democrats have candidates lined up for both wards. Liz Barrett is planning to stand in Perth City South, with James Graham in Perth City North, but group leader Councillor Peter Barrett said he is awaiting formal confirmation from the council that the by-election would go ahead.
The Conservative group, which is currently in administration, has yet to announce its candidates
Tricia Duncan, chairman of Perth and Kinross Labour Party, said the party is still in the candidate selection process.
