A community football club has kicked off a rewarding campaign to support local businesses as they ease out of lockdown.
Kinross Colts, a registered charity with 15 teams and more than 300 players, has set up a members reward scheme to boost several stores and restaurants, while offering money-off incentives to team members and their families.
Chairman Brian Kenny said came about after seeing how the Kinross-shire community rallied together to support each other during lockdown.
“The trustees of the club could see that many of our local businesses were going the extra mile for the community by offering a home delivery service and helping NHS workers,” he said.
“As a club, we wanted to help the local business community by encouraging our players and their families to spend their cash at local businesses and give the Kinross-shire economy a much-needed boost after the long lockdown.”
He said: “We’ve teamed up with eight of our best local businesses who are all offering discounts to our members.
“We’re sure that the businesses will see a great benefit and we’re delighted to play a small part in boosting our local economy.”
Membership cards have been handed out to all players. They can be used for discounts at the Thistle Hotel, Heaven Scent Coffee Shop, the Wee Barbers in Milnathort, Hunters of Kinross butchers, La Casanova Pizzeria, Bailies newsagent, the Raj Mahal Indian Restaurant and Tyrefair Tyres.
Omar Azher of La Casanova Pizzeria welcomed the scheme. “As a new business opening just before lockdown, it’s been nice to come together as a community.
“By being part of the Kinross Colts scheme, we can give a little back to people who have supported us during these difficult times.”
Pamela Hunter, of Hunters of Kinross added: “The Kinross-shire community is brilliant and supported our own local initiative Kinross Heart Start, which has installed public access defibrillators around Kinross-shire.
“Kinross Colts are a great local club who do a lot for the community and we’re delighted to be part of their scheme, which will be great for the players, their families and the local businesses.”
