A man who tried to headbutt and spit at medics in a casualty unit has been remanded in custody.
Ewan Grant was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment when he was found lying in the street after a binge-drinking session.
Fiscal depute Lynne Mannion told Dundee Sheriff Court: “The consultant asked him to quieten down, trying to prevent the behaviour from escalating.
“The accused was trying to get to his feet but he was unsteady.
“He was helped back on to the trolley by members of staff.
“They held on to his arms as he was trying to lash out. He grabbed the consultant’s left hand and twisted his fingers. That caused him pain.
“Other witnesses managed to pull him away from the accused’s grasp. The accused spat towards him.
“He also tried to headbutt the witness.
“Kirsty Smith, another member of staff, was also involved in this altercation.”
Grant also tried to spit at and headbutt her.
Grant, 30, of Hay Street, Alyth, admitted assaulting Shobhan Thekore by seizing his hand, twisting his fingers and trying to headbutt and spit at him.
He also admitted attacking Kirsty Smith by trying to headbutt and spit at her in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee on September 12 this year.
Grant, who has previous convictions for violence, also admitted attacking PC Ruaraidh MacDonald by lunging towards him and trying to bite his arm.
