A mix-up over Perth, Scotland, and its counterpart in Australia ended with in an international commission for a local designer.
“Recently a customer, Monique Bushby, did a web search for a vintage sewing box and was delighted to find Sarah’s Attic with a few sewing boxes based in Perth,” said designer Sarah Peterson.
“I didn’t quite have what she was looking for but she emailed to ask if I could find what she was looking for.
“I agreed to source and upcycle a sewing box for her and once we had agreed on exactly what was required only then did Monique realise that my business was based in Perth, Scotland and not Perth, Australia as she lives in Sydney.”
Once they had both shared a laugh over the mix-up the customer still wanted to proceed with the commission and, after further correspondence, Sarah sourced and upcycled the sewing box for Monique and it was carefully packaged and shipped to Australia.
Every piece that Sarah creates has a certificate produced telling the story of when the item was originally made and what has been done to restore/upcycle it.
The customer then sent back photographs to Sarah who started her business in Watsons on Perth’s High Street a year ago.
