Hair-raising ghost walks will be held in Perth and Dunkeld this weekend.
The covid-safe guided tours will be led by the Fair City’s History and Horror Tours group.
They aim to bring spooky old stories to life, while unearthing the area’s hidden dark past, with trails through Perth on Friday and Dunkeld on Saturday.
Organisers hope the events will offer locals an alternative treat this Halloween, with guising, parties and the usual Fair City Winter Festival actitivties cancelled.
Because of restrictions, tour sizes will be limited and guides will use amplifiers so guests don’t have to stand too close.
Handshakes are also being discouraged, but customers are told: “A good old fashioned bow, curtsy or doff of the cap is acceptable.”
The tours will shine a light on lesser known and gruesome tales from the area’s rich and often bloody history.
Visitors can expect stories of daring escapes, executions, murders cannibals and scandalous behaviour, as well as tales that have been especially selected for Halloween.
Lynne Knight said the tours had been designed with spooky season in mind. “We will be introducing our new guides and telling stories from around Scotland, that don’t usually feature on our tours.”
She said: “Both tours end in possibly the creepiest locations where both guides and guests have had ghostly encounters on previous tours. That will be perfect for Halloween.”
Lynne added: “We wanted to offer something a bit different for a Halloween that’s going to be a bit different, without guiding and parties.”
