An orienteering club is hoping to help break a world record next week.
As part of World Orienteering Day, members of the Tayside Orienteers will meet on the North Inch on Wednesday evening.
They will be one of a number of groups vying to have the most people simultaneously completing a course.
The current record was set in 2003 in Switzerland, when 207,979 young people at 1,381 locations ran an orienteering course.
Club members are also looking forward to testing out their updated map of the North Inch which has recently been prepared by Great Britain orienteering team member Graham Gristwood.
The session, which starts at 6.30pm, is open to members and non-members alike and is being organised so that complete beginners as well as young children can take part with confidence.
Full details can be found on the club’s website www.tayside orienteers.org.uk or Facebook page, or by contacting club development officer Melanie Nicoll at mel@scottish- orienteering.org
Tayside Orienteers is the orienteering club for Perth and Kinross, Dundee and Angus and welcomes all ages and levels of experience from beginner to experienced orienteer.
The club hosts regular events, coaching and training, with members linking up to travel further afield to regional and national competitions.
Orienteering is an adventure sport exploring the countryside. Whilst at the elite level orienteering requires a huge mental element and extremely high levels of fitness, it is also a sport for the whole family.
