A new pavilion cafe at Perth’s popular South Inch park has been officially opened by provost Liz Grant.
The venue has been empty since the departure of the South Inch Bowling Club in 2012.
Refurbishment work was completed in March and a new leaseholder has taken on the cafe.
The establishment has now been running for a few weeks and was officially opened in a ceremony on Monday afternoon.
Ms Grant said: “I am delighted that the Pavilion Cafe has been well received by residents and visitors alike since it opened to the public over the Easter weekend.
“It is a very welcome addition to this premier green space in the heart of Perth that offers beautiful parkland an excellent children’s play area.”
The site had a chequered history. Some refurbishment work took place in 2014 as part of a £570,000 investment plan to provide basic facilities to allow a café operator to open for business.
However, the council discovered that more work was required to upgrade the building due to vandalism and break-ins.
The facility is now open daily from 9am to 6pm offering hot food and ice creams.
