Time is running out for individual households or community groups to apply for funding to the Foundation Scotland Flood Appeal, an MSP is warning.
Murdo Fraser is urging individuals and organisations affected by flooding in the Mid-Scotland and Fife region to apply for funding before the deadline of 4pm Friday May 27.
The appeal was launched in January as a response to the unprecedented rainfall caused by storms Desmond, Eve and Franks.
Since then the appeal has raised over £675,000 thanks to the support of the public, Foundation Scotland’s clients, the People’s Postcode Lottery and Comic Relief.
Individuals and organisations can apply to the flood appeal in addition to claiming the £1,500 which was made available from the Scottish Government.
“Because of the generosity of the public and businesses, this fund has been set up to lend extra help to those affected by flooding since December,” said Mr Fraser.
“Residents or community groups who have been affected can apply for a further £500, on top of any grants they have already been given by the government.
“This fund will prioritise the elderly, households with children and people on low incomes.”
He encouraged residents across Mid-Scotland and Fife to take a look at the Foundation Scotland website before the deadline to see if they can apply.
