A man was pulled from the Tay in a dramatic rescue operation this morning.
Police, fire and ambulance services rushed to the scene in Perth city centre shortly after 9.50am.
The man, who had entered the water upstream, was thrown a safety line by police standing on Queen’s Bridge and held on for a time before letting go.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service arrived on scene with two fire engines and three specialist vehicles, including one towing two rescue boats.
Four members of the water rescue team waded into the river under Queen’s Bridge before swimming out to the man and bringing him to safety.
He was then transferred to a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We, along with other emergency services, attended at 9.45am this morning at North Inch, Perth after reports of a man in the water.
“The man was recovered from the water and taken to hospital for treatment.”
