A motorist killed in a car crash near Meikleour had worked on the new Forth bridge and dreamed of becoming a chartered engineer.
Paul McHoul, from Blairgowrie, was involved in a six-car incident on the A93 on Monday morning.
The 26-year-old was studying civil engineering at Abertay University and had spent the last six months undertaking placements on the Forth replacement crossing.
A spokesman for Transport Scotland said those working on the new bridge had great respect for Paul.
He said: “This tragic accident has shocked and saddened his friends and colleagues on the project.
“Paul was very well regarded among our team and he had recently returned for a second spell with us having been on a placement from Abertay University earlier this year.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with his family and friends at this sad time.”
The avid St Johnstone fan studied civil engineering at Dundee and Angus College, graduating in 2015, before attending Abertay.
Lecturers who taught Paul during his time the college also paid tribute to him.
“We were saddened to hear this devastating news,” said lecturer John Dempster.
“Paul was an excellent student and was always well regarded throughout his two years of study at D&A College.”
The sentiment was echoed by fellow lecturer, Ruth Morven, who said: “Paul took a keen interest in all aspects of the HND civil engineering course and actively participated in all classes.
“He was always polite and willing to help others.”
Paul’s family have said he will be “greatly missed” and friends posted tributes online.
Bruce Davidson said: “He was an absolute gent, absolutely devastated”, while Stewart Sheed said he was “shocked and saddened by such horrible, horrible news”, adding that Paul was “taken far too soon such a happy laddie.”
Kiera Senkel said: “A man with great talent, Paul will be greatly missed.”, while Kerry Ramsay added: “Paul was one of a kind. A true gent who lived life to the full and was always full of good banter.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Enquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident are on-going and Tayside Division would appeal for anyone who may have information that could assist officers with their enquiries to contact Tayside Division on 101.
“As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
