Eight men arrested by police investigating a series of ATM raids across the country have been charged, detectives have confirmed.
Police teams swooped on suspects’ homes across the north of England on Tuesday morning.
It followed an extensive investigation into a series of cash machine thefts, including one at a Perthshire filling station.
It is understood that one of the 10 charges they are to face relates to an incident in Carnoustie on February 12.
The probe was led by Titan, the north-west of England’s regional organised crime unit, and Police Scotland.
On Wednesday afternoon, Merseyside Police confirmed that eight men have now been charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion and conspiracy to burgle commercial premises.
The men were named by police as Andrew White, 27, from St Helens; Anthony White, 26, of Huyon; Carl Cavanagh, 33, from Huyton; Anthony Conroy, 29, from Liverpool; Michael Galea, from Prescot; Nanu Miah, 27, from Birmingham; Scott Pearson, 34, of Leigh in Greater Manchester and Gary Carey, 39, from Huyton.
The charges relate to a year-long period from February 1, 2015.
The eight are being kept in custody and due to appear before Liverpool City Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
