A woman has died following a crash on the A94 between Coupar Angus and Forfar, police said as they appealed for witnesses.
Road policing officers in Tayside are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which took place on the A94, Coupar Angus to Forfar road, near Ardler on Sunday August 22.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at around 5.15pm after a vehicle struck a tree.
A 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 29-year-old driver was rushed to Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries.
Police appeal for witnesses
The blue Vauxhall Corsa was said to have been driving eastbound when it left the road and struck a tree.
Sergeant Ewan Pearce, of Tayside’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this time.
“We are conducting extensive inquiries into the circumstances of this incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“If you were in the area and witnessed the crash, or have any potential dashcam footage which could assist our investigation, please call police on 101, quoting incident 2992 of August 22.”
The crash site is just metres from Viewbank Farm, halfway between Coupar Angus and Meigle, and close to the back garden of a nearby cottage.
One worker at a construction site nearby told The Courier: “It’s horrible to hear, especially the woman being that age too.”
The car is believed to have been travelling eastwards in the direction of Forfar before leaving the road and colliding with a tree.
