It’s an eaterie better known for its calorie-laden bacon rolls than its status in the world of high-fashion.
But a stunning photoshoot which took place at The Horn, near Errol, has now been revealed in top fashion magazine Vogue for the first time.
Model Edie Campbell, skateboarder Blondey McCoy and a crew of around 20 spent the day at the restaurant, near Errol, but restaurant owner Kenny Farquharson was sworn to secrecy and could not talk about the experience until the photographs were published.
The motocross-themed images – which were also shot at Coupar Angus’ motocross track – were published in the September edition at the end of last week.
Kenny said that while he knew a photographer was coming to The Horn, he was not told until the day before that the photos were for Vogue.
He said: “A company in Edinburgh was scouting for a location. The photographer Alasdair McLellan is Scottish and knew about The Horn already. He made a point of suggesting to the location company that they should contact us to see if it would be ok to use the restaurant as a location.
“I didn’t know it was for Vogue at that point in time – I found out the day before. It was obviously a big shock.
“I was warned that the models might be high maintenance but they really weren’t and the crew was great as well.
“They were doing a shoot for motocross gear and the retro image (of the restaurant) suited their purposes and was a backdrop to the whole thing.”
He added that while The Horn’s customers had been bemused to find themselves in the middle of a fashion shoot they had handled it well.
“The customers were really good because we had to shoot round about them as well,” he said.
“At some points the models were using the area where customers would normally be served. Luckily they were very accommodating.”
However Kenny does not believe The Horn will become a new meeting place for hordes of fashionistas.
He said: “It might be interesting going forward to see what kind of people come in.
“I don’t expect it to be a big change – I don’t expect customers to come in looking like they’ve just stepped off a catwalk but some might feel they have to dress up a bit more now.”
