Firefighters were called to a one car smash on the M90 on Sunday afternoon.
A motorist lost control of their Land Rover Defender and careered off the carriageway at junction nine, near Bridge of Earn.
The 4×4, which had been travelling north, collided with a barrier and came to a rest on its side, blocking both lanes of the southbound carriageway.
The accident happened just after 3.30pm.
A fire service spokesman said: “The driver was out of the vehicle before we got there. Our job was to make the road safe.”
