An auction of collectable firearms is expected to attract dealers from around the world to Perthshire’s world famous Gleneagles Hotel.
The sale, organised by Gavin Gardiner Ltd, will feature a variety of rare and classic guns.
One of the biggest draws is expected to be a 12-bore Royal de Luxe model, which was designed specifically for grouse shouting.
The gun was made in the 1970s and originally cost just over £2,000. It is expected to fetch between £14,000 and £18,000.
The sale, which takes place on Monday from 5pm, has more than 200 lots including an iconic weapon by John Dickson and Sons described by auctioneers as “probably the most desirable and iconic shotgun made in Scotland”.
Also on offer is a scarce pigeon gun, by Holland & Holland, which dates from 1948 and carries an estimate of more than £14,000.
The ever-popular Gavin Gardiner auction, now in its 49th year, will be open for public viewing today and tomorrow.
The sale features lots dating from 1860 to the present day by world-class makers such as Purdey, Boss & Co and Westley Richards, as well as many by Scotland’s most celebrated manufacturers.
