A new community vaccination centre will soon be opening in Perth as NHS Tayside’s vaccination teams prepare to leave the Dewars Centre.
After almost a year at the Glover Street conference venue, the vaccination team will be moving into their new home in the former H&M store in the St John’s Shopping Centre, which will be known as Perth Central.
Around 200,000 Covid-19 and flu jabs have been delivered at Dewars Centre since the vaccination centre opened in February 2021.
The last day of vaccinations at Dewars will be on Hogmanay, and the new venue will be open to the public on January 3 next year.

Drop-ins for Covid jab
Drop-ins will run from 11am-1pm on January 3 and 4, and then seven days a week from 10am-5pm, beginning January 5.
NHS Tayside’s associate director for public health, Dr Daniel Chandler, said: “Dewars Centre has played a huge part in allowing us to deliver many thousands of vaccinations to the public in Perth & Kinross this year and we are very grateful to everyone who has been involved in this fantastic partnership effort.
“There has been lots of work behind the scenes to identify and set up the new venue in the centre of Perth and we look forward to welcoming the first patients in the New Year.
“We are continuing to offer Covid boosters to all those eligible, as well as first and second doses, and would encourage anyone who is yet get vaccinated to book an appointment or come along to a drop-in session, at Dewars or Perth Central as soon as you can.”
Details of all drop-in sessions in Tayside over the festive period are available at the NHS Tayside vaccination website or on its Twitter feed, or the health board’s Facebook page.
Appointments can also be booked at the Vaccine Scotland website, or by calling 0800 030 8013.
Council leader urges people to get Covid jab
Perth & Kinross Council leader Murray Lyle said: “Thousands of people have received their vaccinations or boosters at Dewars Centre since the start of the year.
“I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers who helped deliver vaccines at Dewars and everyone who has come forward for their jab.
“Getting vaccinated is the best protection against Covid and I would urge everyone who has not been vaccinated or had their booster to do so as soon as possible.”
Anyone attending the new vaccination centre by car can use any of the nearby car parks in the city centre.
Blue Badge parking is available on South Street and there is drop-off access from King Edward Street with Shop Mobility located nearby at Canal Street.
