A woman was stalked by a respected Territorial Army officer who loitered outside her home watching who was visiting her.
Colin Park knocked on the woman’s window in the middle of the night and repeatedly sent her messages when she had told him she wanted nothing to do with him.
Park, 51, of McWilliam Place, Kinross, admitted that on October 24 and 25 at Radisson Hotel, High Street, Edinburgh, and at Carnock Road, Dunfermline, he engaged in a course of conduct which caused fear or alarm to the woman by behaving in an aggressive manner, repeatedly attending her home address during the hours of darkness, loitering in the vicinity, monitoring visitors to her home and repeatedly contacting her by e-mail.
Park served in the Territorial Army for 30 years as a sergeant major, training officer and more recently a troop commander in Edinburgh.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court depute fiscal Alex Piper said he and his victim had been in a relationship.
After a night out with a friend she returned home at 1am. Shortly afterwards she was joined by a male friend who came to see her.
The woman then received an e-mail from Park, stating, “I can’t believe what I’ve just seen.”
Defence solicitor Ian Beatson said, “He accepts the relationship is over. When she told him the relationship was over he found it hard to accept.”
Sheriff Charles Macnair said, “This seems to be a case where you were trying to exert control over a woman who had told you she wanted nothing to do with you” and imposed an order of 225 hours of unpaid work.
