Council chiefs have started their search for a construction firm to replace two bridges at flood-hit Alyth.
The crossings will be put in place next year after three structures were washed away in a freak deluge last summer.
Alyth residents recently voted to replace just two of the lost bridges, after engineers found a third crossing could lead to a loss of parking spaces.
Now Perth and Kinross Council has invited companies to submit tenders for the work.
The brief to potential applicants states that the job will involve the installation of two bridges, as well as the construction of ramps and steps. The cost of the scheme has not been revealed.
Tenders have to be in by the end of the month and a decision is likely to be announced in October.
The council has pledged not to start work on the new bridges until the new year, so that Alyth isn’t left looking like a building site in the run-up to Christmas.
The structures should be in place by March.
Council leader Ian Miller, who is also a local councillor, said the bridges would be built at a higher level to avoid damming. He also said one of the crossings would be fully accessible for wheelchair users.
Businesses said trade had been affected by the loss of the bridges.
