A German Shepherd dog is being cared for after it was found abandoned tied to a fence in rural Perthshire.
The Scottish SPCA has no idea how long it had been left before it was discovered and is appealing for information to trace the person responsible.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted after a member of the public spotted the two-year-old canine on Saturday September 17.
The dog was tied to a fence near Westmuir Wood, which is located close to Clathymore and Madderty.
His microchip, which revealed his name is Kai, is unfortunately registered to a previous owner.
Kai is now in the care of the society’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Petterden.
Inspector Clare Anderson said: “This beautiful boy was tied to a fence and abandoned. We have no idea how long he was left there.
“He’s a friendly boy and we aren’t sure why someone would want to abandon him like this.
“We will look after him until we find him the loving home that he deserves.”
The society said abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
Anyone with information on the dog’s past is being asked to contact the SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
