The teenager was approached on a public footpath in Luncarty at around 11.45pm on Wednesday. Detectives said the stranger started talking to his victim before he made an attempt to snatch away her phone. The man is described as between 25 to 29 years old and was wearing a red hooded top and dark jeans. The girl was shocked, but unhurt, a Police Scotland spokeswoman said. The incident happened near Sandeman Place. Anyone with information is urged to call investigators on 101 or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
