Unloved and unwanted bras can now be recycled at sites across Perth and Kinross to raise vital funds for breast cancer research.
New eye-catching pink bra banks have been installed at eight recycling centres throughout the region, including Crieff, Blairgowrie, Friarton and Pitlochry.
For every tonne of bras donated, £200 will go toward’s Breast Cancer Now’s world class research.
The bras will be upcycled into new material, including carpets, purses and textiles, or could be sent to women in developing countries.
Perth provost Liz Grant said: “We fully support this exciting new partnership which will allow women across Perth and Kinross to recycle their bras in a way that will not only benefit the environment but provide funding for cutting-edge breast cancer research.
“We would like to encourage local women to take advantage of the new Breast Cancer Now bra banks and give their unwanted underwear a new life while helping to stop deaths from breast cancer.”
Mary Allison, Breast Cancer Now’s director for Scotland, said she was excited to launch 32 bra banks across Scotland.
