A three-week programme of roadworks has begun in Perth, causing misery for rush hour commuters.
The £330,000 project will see improvements made to two bridges at the Craigend junction, which is used by around 30,000 vehicles each day.
The works have necessitated the closure of routes leading to Perth’s Edinburgh Road and the diversion of traffic via the Friarton bridge and Broxden Roundabout.
Monday morning saw long tailbacks forming towards the Broxden roundabout and Dundee Road as commuters took alternative routes into the city centre.
One motorist, who diverted via Broxden, said: “I knew about the roadworks and so left home 15 minutes earlier than normal so I wouldn’t be late for work. But the traffic was heavier than I thought it would be so it didn’t help and I was late anyway.”
