Traffic misery was compounded for motorists in Perthshire by a rush hour break down on the A9.
A broken down lorry on the Broxden roundabout caused chaos for travellers on both the A9 and M90 on Tuesday afternoon.
The disruption occurred on the second day of a fortnight of works at another busy Perth junction.
The HGV came to a stand still straddling both southbound lanes at around 4.15pm.
It was after 6pm before the vehicle was recovered and the blockage caused queues as far back as junction 10 of the M90 at Craigend.
On Monday traffic ground to a halt as work began on the £330,000 project of improvements to two bridges at the Craigend junction.
Routes leading to Perth’s Edinburgh Road have been closed and traffic diverted.
Monday morning saw long tailbacks towards the Broxden roundabout and Dundee Road as commuters took alternative routes into the city centre.
One of the bridges carries the M90 northbound slip over the A912 into Perth and the other carries the A912 from Bridge of Earn over the M90 slip from Broxden towards Dundee.
The M90 northbound slip into Perth closed fully for two weeks on Sunday, with drivers diverted off the M90 at Bridge of Earn.
The A912 bridge works are being carried out under off-peak lane closures, which will last for three weeks.
