The family of Kathleen Harkin have warned friends visiting her memorial to the teenager to stay safe around the River Tay.
Thanking the dozens of people who have placed flowers on a bench on Woody Island, near where the 15-year-old was last seen, they vowed to make sure such a tragedy could “never ever happen again”.
On the Celebrating Kathleen Facebook page, they posted an image of the floral tributes.
The post said: “These are just some of the beautiful flowers that have been given to our beautiful girl and (we) cannot thank you all for showing such love, support and compassion at this devastating time.”
They added: “We understand people will continue to go to this area, however we would just like to emphasise that the natural world is not predictable and elements can beat us.
“Please if you are going, make sure you always, always, always go with more than one person, always, always go in the daylight and always, always tell at least one person exactly where you are going.
“This tragedy never should have happened and we need to make sure this will never ever happen again.
“Thank you from the bottom of our broken hearts.”
The family had previously posted treasured childhood photos of Kathleen online.
Kathleen disappeared during a night out with friends on October 8. She was last seen at 9.30pm near Woody Island. Her body was found in the Tay at St Madoes on October 10 following an intense search effort.
