East Perthshire has been left stunned and saddened by the death of a two-year-old girl in Coupar Angus.
The youngster died after she was struck by a car on Thursday in an accident in which her five-year-old brother and 17-year-old sister were also seriously injured.
Strathmore Councillor Dennis Melloy spoke for the community when he said it was struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
He said: “I am absolutely shocked and saddened to hear the dreadful news. I feel for the poor family. Everyone in Coupar Angus is stunned.”
Social media has been filled with friends, locals and other Perth and Kinross residents offering condolences to the children’s family.
Carol Thomson wrote: “This is desperately heart breaking. I’m so sorry for the family. It is horrific. I cannot imagine what they are going through right now but my thoughts are firmly with them.
And Christine Shirkey said: “This breaks your heart. Why has this little one been taken at such a young age? Loving thoughts with this wee girl’s family at this horrific time.”
