Engineers have started work on a new pontoon on the River Tay near Perth’s Fergusson Gallery. The trial pontoon is part of a £600,000 scheme which could see the river transformed into a thoroughfare for water taxis and pleasure cruises. The berthing points, including one at Willowgate Fishery near Friarton Bridge, should be completed by the end of the month. They will then be dismantled and put away for the winter. A barge was brought in to test the waters off Shore Road.
