Councillors and residents staged a protest in Perth to hammer home a road safety message to motorists.
Following concerns from local people, weight and speed restrictions were introduced on Glover Street between Needless Road and Craigie Cross but the measures have been ignored by some road users.
Speaking on behalf of councillors Alistair Munro, Alexander Stewart and Bob Band, Councillor Willie Wilson said: “The four local ward councillors are determined to see the 20mph and 3.5 tonne weight limit in Glover street fully implemented.
“We strongly support the local residents in this matter.
“Many motorists obey the 20mph restriction but some do not and we need to continue to press the message home.
“We are working closely with Police Scotland and the local community to see that people take heed of the speed and weight limits.
“Large lorries which continue to use this street are regularly reported to the police.”
The council has reviewed the signage and will be providing improved signs in the future and they have also had large 20 mph signs painted on the roadways at either end of this section of Glover Street.
Police Scotland have also carried out routine checks and warned motorists of the restrictions involved.
To reinforce the message local councillors and residents carried out a “twenty’s plenty” protest on Glover Street.
In addition, local residents themselves have helped the police identify lorries that are breaking the rules and also reported a number of cars that have been speeding.
“We were delighted when the speed and weight restrictions were introduced, we thought that would be the answer to our problems,” said one local resident.
“Unfortunately there are some people who flout the rules, hopefully if they realise that they could be prosecuted it might have an impact.
“This is a battle we need to win for the safety of local residents.”
