Perth’s first ever Comic Con event confirmed for summer after Covid cancellations

Comic Con is coming to Perth for the first time this year and will feature artists and writers from some of the world’s biggest comic brands.

Organisers BGCP tried to hold the event last year, its first time in the Fair City, but were forced to delay it due to Covid-19 concerns and the venue being used as a vaccine centre.

The event, which celebrates comic books and their culture, will now be held in the Dewars Centre on August 6.

Comic Con Dundee was held earlier this year.

More then 70 traders will be in attendance, selling a range of items including comics, signed books, props, figures and clothing.

Some special guests – writers and artists from the world of comic books – will also be making an appearance.

Comic Con will be held in the Dewars Centre which, until the start of the year, was being used as a vaccine centre.

BGCP held a similar comic con event in Dundee in February and is due to host one in Kirkcaldy on September 3.

BGCP started as Big Glasgow Comic Page in July 2012 as a way to unite comic book fans.

As there was nothing like it in the area at the time, its Facebook page quickly gained traction. The popularity led to a comic book group, pub quizzes, tournaments and a comic book market.

After holding the markets for several years, they had outgrown smaller venues and so set to host Comic Cons in towns and cities across Scotland.

Entry tickets and workshop admissions are available on the BGCP website.

All tickets for last year’s event remain valid.
