Perth & Kinross Perthshire Amber to take a break in 2017 By Kirsty McIntosh November 29 2016, 12:12pm November 29 2016, 12:12pm Share Perthshire Amber to take a break in 2017 Share via Facebook Twitter Linkedin Whatsapp Messenger Email Post link https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/perth-kinross/320441/perthshire-amber-take-break-2017/ Copy Link Dougie MacLean. Just days after T in the Park announced it was taking a break in 2017, another Perthshire festival has announced it will also be absent from the music calendar next year. Dougie MacLean’s Perthshire Amber festival will take a break in 2017, the singer and his wife have confirmed. The festival, which began as a two-day event in Pitlochry in 2005, now attracts about 10,000 visitors per year from up to 26 countries, and is thought to bring in £1million to the Perthshire economy. Festival director Jenny MacLean said: “It’s been a wonderful journey so far for Dougie and myself and many of our family and friends through the 12 years of Perthshire Amber. “A journey full of wonderful music and musical friendships re-kindled, of discovering truly stunning venues all over Perthshire and welcoming so many enthusiasts for Dougie’s music to his beautiful home county. “We’ve had disappointments and frustrations here and there, but we’ve never had any insurmountable problems. “Call me superstitious but I just don’t want to organise a 13th year. I have a feeling something would go terribly wrong and you can’t argue with gut instinct. “We totally value the support and goodwill that has grown over the years from the ever increasing number of businesses that have become festival sponsors and PALS. “So after a break in 2017, with time to reflect and project, the festival may blaze back with renewed vigour in the autumn of 2018 or beyond.”
