A stylish art deco figure discovered in a Perthshire house has sold for £12,000 at auction.
The 1920s figure of a girl by German sculptor Ferdinand Preiss went to a private buyer based in the UK, bidding by telephone.
At one stage eight phone lines were competing with buyers online and in the room at the Perth auction on Tuesday.
“It was an excellent result for a period bronze and ivory by a top maker,” said Nick Burns of Lindsay Burns Auction and Company following the first day of a two day sale at the King Street auctioneers.
“It made an international price in a Scottish saleroom. The price reflected the excellent condition of the piece.”
A similar figure by the same sculptor was featured recently on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.
The sale continues on Wednesday with silver, gold, jewellery, wine, whisky, ceramics and Asian art.
